I met my wife, Patty, after the Dallas                                                                                  White Rock Marathon in December,
2010.  We were married in April, 2012,
in Costa Rica. We make our home in                                                                                      Coppell with our dogs, Bandit                                                                                                  (pictured) and Cooper  and our  cat,
Josie. During cycling season, you can find us out riding through the beautiful rural settings in and around Argyle and Roanoke  or at bike events throughout the area.

Professionally . . .

I was born and raised  in Kansas, where I graduated from the University of Kansas (1984) and Washburn University School of Law (1987). After finishing law school, I began my legal career with Hampton & Royce, LC, in Salina, Kansas. One advantage of practicing law in a mid-sized city in Kansas is that I was exposed to nearly every area of civil law. I  have represented  plaintiffs and defendants in hundreds of cases, written wills and trusts, drafted contracts and litigated the meaning of contracts written by others. I've guided clients as they settled cases in mediation  and represented them in court when settlement could not be achieved.

In 2011, I was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and in January, 2012, began my North Texas practice. Since then I've been providing legal advice and support for an increasing number of business clients and at the same time advocating for consumers who find themselves in need of legal representation. The balance  between these two differing roles helps keep me energized.

All the Rest . . .

When  I hit 40, it was made clear to me

that  I was not going to outlive my

lifestyle. After some not-so-gentle urging, I dedicated myself to living a better life. I ate healthier. I started running. I  discovered a talent and a passion for it. After a few years, I moved into triathlon and I still train and compete regularly. I've run races and competed in triathlons at all of the standard distances. The bonus of an active lifestyle isn't limited to  the  health benefits. Sharing the time, the struggles, and the triumphs with  family, friends and teammates who are out there with you adds layers of communication, compassion, fun and love that can't be found elsewhere.
